Skills

Enable special abilities like web search, media display, and more.

The Skills section lets you turn on or off special abilities that your companion can use during conversations. Each skill gives your companion a new capability. There are four skills; a new companion starts with the first three turned on, and Support Escalation turned off until you enable it.

Available Skills

"Look up answers from your knowledge base"

When enabled, your companion can search through your uploaded resources, knowledge sections, and data to find accurate answers. This is the core skill that lets your companion draw on everything you have taught it.

Rich Media

"Show images, videos, and documents in chat"

When enabled, your companion can display images, videos, and other media directly in the conversation. This is great for product showcases, tutorials, or any time a visual answer is better than a text-only one.

Auto Close

"Wrap up when the conversation is over"

When enabled, your companion can gracefully end a conversation when it detects that the user is done. It will wrap up with a closing message rather than leaving the chat hanging indefinitely.

Support Escalation

"Raise a ticket and hand off to a human agent"

When enabled, your companion can create a support ticket and pass the conversation to a person when it cannot resolve something itself. This one is off by default - turn it on once you have somewhere for those tickets to go.

Speaking your visitor's language is not a skill you turn on - every companion does it automatically. It replies in whatever language the visitor writes or speaks in, and follows them if they switch mid-conversation. See Language.

How to Toggle Skills

Each skill is shown as a card with a checkbox. Click anywhere on the card or directly on the checkbox to turn a skill on or off.

  • Enabled skills appear with a full-color card and a checked box
  • Disabled skills appear dimmed and unchecked

Default Reply (Fallback Message)

In the Expression section (also on the Behaviour tab, next to Style), you will find the Default Reply field. This is what your companion says when it encounters a question it cannot answer with its available skills and knowledge. It's a single-line field, up to 500 characters.

The default is: "I don't have an answer for that right now. Please reach out to our team for more help."

Click Suggestions for ready-made alternatives:

DefaultI don't have an answer for that right now. Please reach out to our team for more help.
Honest & HelpfulI don't have that info just yet - happy to help with something else though!
Support RedirectNot sure about that one! Our support team would be the best to help.
Warm & ReassuringGreat question! That's a bit outside what I know, but I'm here for everything else.
Short & SimpleHmm, not sure about that. What else can I help with?
Acknowledge & HelpTotally understand - I just don't have an answer for that one. What else can I help with?

Or click Generate to have AI write one based on your companion's name, about, and personality. This setting works alongside the skills - it is the safety net for when all skills come up empty.

Disabling a skill means your companion simply will not use that capability. It does not remove any data - your resources and knowledge stay intact. You can re-enable any skill at any time.
