Building Companions
Everything you need to know about creating your own AI companion on Aura.
Companions are the heart of Aura. Each companion is an AI-powered conversational agent that you design, train, and publish. You control everything -- from how it looks and sounds to what it knows and how it behaves.
Every companion has a settings page organized into five tabs:
- Persona -- Name, description, personality, greeting, avatar, and gallery images
- Voice -- Voice selection, language, speaking speed, pause timing, and listening settings
- Behaviour -- Output format, idle timeout, skills, conversation style, behaviour rules, and quick-start prompts
- Data -- Knowledge sections, AI-generated knowledge, links, and uploaded resources (documents, videos, images)
- Advanced -- Intelligence tier, access control, feedback collection, and user intake forms
As you build, a profile completion indicator tracks your progress and suggests what to fill in next. You can also use the AI Text Improve tool to polish any text field with one click.
