Guided Tours
Interactive walkthroughs that show you around Aura, step by step.
Aura includes built-in guided tours - interactive walkthroughs that spotlight parts of the current screen and explain what everything does. There are 24 tours covering onboarding, individual companion pages, organization settings, Explorer-mode pages, and public/shared pages.
The Tours button
Look for the Tours button in the top-left area of the header. Clicking it opens a dropdown listing every tour available to you from wherever you currently are:
- This Companion - if you're on a page that belongs to a specific companion (its profile, insights, guides, conversations, and so on), tours for that companion's other pages are grouped here. The tour for the page you're currently on is highlighted.
- Other Tours - platform-wide tours reachable from anywhere (dashboard, wallet, public profile, help, account settings) plus any tour with no single fixed page of its own, such as Platform Onboarding. Picking one navigates you to the right page automatically before starting.
Tours have no completion or dismissal record. There's no per-tour "seen it" state saved anywhere - closing a tour, navigating away mid-tour, or letting it finish doesn't change what's offered to you later. You can replay any tour as many times as you like from the Tours button.
On an unauthenticated shared companion link (/share/assistants/...), the header shows a single Tour button instead of the dropdown - clicking it starts the Shared Companion walkthrough directly. On other public pages you can reach while signed out (Explore, a creator's public profile, a shared guide, a shared resource), you still get the normal Tours dropdown, but it only lists the tours marked available to guests.
Tours that start automatically
Aura starts certain tours on its own, without you clicking anything, through two independent mechanisms:
Empty-state auto-start. A handful of tours are tied to a specific page and a real "you don't have anything here yet" empty state on that page. When you land on a matching route, Aura watches for that empty-state element to actually appear (polling for up to 8 seconds - long enough to survive the page's own data fetch, but no longer) and starts the tour the moment it does. If the page already has data, the empty state never appears and the tour doesn't fire. This is offered once per page visit; navigating away and back won't re-interrupt you in the same session, but nothing is saved permanently, so it can offer again on a later visit if the page is still genuinely empty. Tours that use this: Platform Onboarding (watches your public profile page), Guides, Collections, and Chat History.
First-companion flag. The Companion Profile Setup tour has a second, separate trigger: right after you create your first companion, a flag is set for the current session, and the tour starts automatically once you land on that companion's profile page - independent of any empty state.
If a tour doesn't start automatically, or you navigate away before it finishes, you can always launch it manually from the Tours button.
Ephemeral walkthroughs
Some parts of Aura can also generate an ad-hoc, AI-driven walkthrough on the fly for the page you're on - for example in response to a question. These aren't part of the fixed list below, don't appear in the Tours dropdown, and only ever target elements already on the current page (no navigation). They use the same spotlight and step overlay as regular tours.

Tips
- Tours work best on a desktop or laptop screen. On mobile, the highlights still work but the experience is optimized for larger displays.
- If a tour seems to get stuck, try refreshing the page and launching it again from the Tours button.
- Tours are purely visual and informational - they don't change any of your settings or data (any in-progress form values you had on a page are preserved as you move between tour steps).
