Deleting a Companion

How to permanently remove a companion you no longer need.

If you no longer need a companion, you can delete it. But please be careful - this action cannot be undone.

How to Delete

  1. Open the companion's settings page
  2. Click the companion pill in the header to open its profile popup
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the popup and click Delete Companion
  4. A confirmation dialog will appear asking "Are you sure you want to delete this companion?"
  5. Click Proceed to permanently delete the companion

Deleting a companion is permanent and irreversible. All of the companion's data will be removed, including:

  • All settings (name, personality, voice, skills, etc.)
  • All uploaded resources (documents, videos, images)
  • All knowledge sections and links
  • All conversation history
  • All analytics and insights data

There is no way to recover a deleted companion. If you are unsure, consider making it private instead - that way it is hidden from the public but you can always bring it back.

The Other Way a Companion Gets Deleted

Deleting it yourself isn't the only path - if your subscription lapses, companions are deleted automatically. When this is about to happen, a red banner appears on the companion warning: "Subscription Ended - [Companion] and its N chats with M users will be permanently deleted," with a Renew now link to your plan. Renewing before that point is the only way to stop it; once it happens, it's exactly as irreversible as deleting it yourself.

This is different from running out of credits, which only pauses a companion (with a Top up now link) rather than deleting it - see Billing for the difference between the two states.
