Listening Settings
Fine-tune how your companion hears and detects speech.
The Listening section of the Voice tab controls two important aspects of how your companion processes audio input: how it filters background noise and how it figures out when you are done talking.
Listening Mode
This setting determines how your companion decides that you have finished your sentence and it is time to respond.
Smart (Recommended)
The default option. Your companion uses intelligent detection to understand when you have finished talking, even if there are brief pauses mid-sentence. It waits until you are truly done before jumping in.
Best for: Most conversations. It feels natural and avoids the companion cutting you off.
Basic
Your companion responds as soon as it detects a pause in your speech. It is faster but may occasionally jump in before you have finished your thought.
Best for: Quick, simple interactions where speed is more important than nuance.
Background Noise
This setting helps your companion filter out background noise so it can hear you clearly.
Close Up
Optimized for when you are speaking close to your microphone -- using a phone, headset, or sitting right next to your computer's mic. It applies less aggressive noise filtering since the signal is already strong.
Best for: Phone calls, headset conversations, quiet environments.
Far Away
Optimized for when you are further from the microphone -- using a speaker, sitting across the room, or in a noisier environment. It applies stronger noise filtering to pick out your voice from the background.
Best for: Speaker conversations, shared spaces, environments with ambient noise.
The default settings (Smart + Close Up) work well for most situations. Only change these if you notice your companion is struggling to hear you or is responding at awkward times.
