Greeting Message

Set the first thing your companion says to visitors.

The Greeting is the very first message your companion says when someone starts a conversation. It is displayed (and spoken, if audio is enabled) the moment a user opens the chat. A good greeting sets the tone and tells visitors what to expect.

Where the Greeting Appears

  • It is the first message in every new conversation
  • If audio output is enabled, the companion will speak it aloud
  • It appears before the user has said anything

Default Greeting

When you create a new companion, the default greeting is:

"Hello! I'm ready to assist you. Feel free to ask me anything, and I'll do my best to help."

You will want to customize this to match your companion's personality and purpose.

Tips for a Great Greeting

  • Keep it short -- greetings should be one or two sentences (up to 200 characters)
  • Set expectations -- tell the user what the companion can help with
  • Match the personality -- if your companion is casual, the greeting should be casual too
  • Avoid being generic -- "Hello, how can I help?" is fine, but "Hey! I know everything about our shoe collection -- what are you looking for?" is much better
  • Consider your audience -- a B2B companion might use a more professional tone than a fun consumer-facing one
