Behaviour Rules

The Preferences section lets you create specific rules that tell your companion what to do and what to avoid. Think of these as guardrails -- they shape the companion's behaviour in targeted ways that go beyond the general personality setting.

What Are Behaviour Rules?

Each rule is a specific instruction that your companion will follow in every conversation. Rules come in two flavours:

• Do rules -- things you want the companion to actively do (e.g., "Always greet the user by name if they provide one")
• Don't rules -- things you want the companion to avoid (e.g., "Never discuss competitor products")

Managing Rules

Adding a Rule

1. Click the + Add button in the Preferences section header
2. A modal opens where you can:
   • Choose the type: Do or Don't
   • Write the rule text describing the behaviour
3. Click Save to add the rule

Editing a Rule

Click the edit button on any existing rule to open the editor. You can change the type (Do/Don't) and the rule text, then save.

Removing a Rule

Click the remove button on any rule to delete it. The rule is removed immediately from the list.

Limits

You can add up to 6 behaviour rules. A counter in the header (e.g., "3/6") shows how many you have used. When you reach the limit, the Add button will disappear.

Examples

Here are some examples of effective behaviour rules:

Do rules:

• "Always ask follow-up questions to make sure you understood the request"
• "End every response with a helpful next step"
• "Use bullet points when listing more than two items"

Don't rules:

• "Never make up information -- say you do not know if unsure"
• "Do not use technical jargon unless the user uses it first"
• "Never provide medical, legal, or financial advice"
