Connecting WhatsApp

Request a WhatsApp connection and understand the setup status.

WhatsApp has its own settings page, separate from the rest of Integrations — you get there by clicking through from the WhatsApp card.

Requesting a connection

For most organizations, connecting WhatsApp is a request-and-review process rather than something that goes live instantly — Aura staff complete the Meta-side setup on your behalf.

Open WhatsApp settings

Open your profile menu and click Integrations, then find the WhatsApp card under Messaging Channels and click through to open its settings page. Click Connect WhatsApp (or Replace Number if you already have one on file).

Fill out the setup request

Provide your business name, the WhatsApp number you want connected, your country, and any notes Aura should know about (verification blockers, preferred timing, and so on).

Submit and wait for review

Save the request. Aura's team picks it up from an internal ops queue and completes the remaining Meta-side setup steps. Any member of your organization can submit, update, or resubmit this request at any time.

Watch the status

Refresh the settings page to see the current status update as Aura processes your request. You may need to take an action on your end at certain stages — see the status meanings below.

Depending on your account, you may instead see a Connect or replace number button that goes live near-instantly through Meta's embedded signup flow rather than the request form above. This is only available where Aura has enabled it for your account — if you only see the setup-request form, that's expected.

Status meanings

StatusMeaning
not_connectedNo number has been requested or connected yet.
setup_requestedYour setup request has been submitted and is waiting on Aura.
pending_customer_actionAura needs something from you before it can continue — check the latest note.
pending_aura_reviewYour action has been taken and Aura is reviewing it.
connectedThe number is live and routing messages.
action_requiredSomething needs your attention to keep the connection working.
disconnectedThe number was disconnected and is no longer routing messages.

Latest note and last error

The Latest note and Last error fields on the settings page are written by Aura staff from an internal admin tool as they work through your request. If you see a message there, it's Aura communicating setup progress or a blocker directly to you — check back here rather than assuming something is broken on your end.

Disconnecting

Click Disconnect WhatsApp to remove the current live binding. This stops routing new messages to your companions immediately; existing conversation history isn't affected.
