AI Text Improvement

The AI Text Improvement tool helps you refine any piece of text using AI. You'll find it as a sparkles button next to certain text fields throughout Aura (like companion descriptions and resource content areas).

Opening the tool

Click the sparkles button near a text field to open the Improve Tool. It appears as a floating panel that you can drag around the screen by grabbing its header. The panel is 460 pixels wide and can be repositioned anywhere on your screen.

How it works

The panel has a header that says "What would you like me to improve?" with a subtitle: "Share your text and I'll help you shape it -- just the way you need it."

Paste your text

The main text area is where you paste or type the text you want to improve. It accepts up to 10,000 characters. A character counter in the bottom-right corner shows your usage (e.g., "2,450/10000") and turns amber near the limit and red when you hit it.

Choose a template

Below the text area, five template chips let you quickly apply common improvements:

• Give me a quick summary -- condenses the text while keeping all key information
• Make it shorter -- significantly shortens the text while preserving core meaning
• Add more detail -- expands the text with more explanation and context
• Fix my spelling & grammar -- corrects errors and improves sentence structure
• Make it more professional -- rewrites in a clear, polished, professional tone

Click any chip to run that improvement immediately. The chips are disabled until you've entered some text.

Write custom instructions

Below the templates, there's a section labeled "Have something specific in mind?" with a text input field. Type your own instructions here (e.g., "Make this sound more casual and friendly") and either press Enter or click the Generate button.

Viewing results

When the AI is working, you'll see a shimmer animation in the result area. Once complete, the improved text appears in a clean card below the input areas. The result is rendered as formatted text (supporting markdown).

After getting results

Once you have a result, you can:

• Copy -- click the Copy button to copy the improved text to your clipboard. The button briefly changes to "Copied" with a checkmark.
• Regenerate -- click the Generate button again (it changes to "Regenerate" after the first result) to run the same instructions again for a different take.
• Try a different template -- click any template chip to apply a different improvement to the original text.
• Iterate -- if you run another improvement after getting a result, the AI uses your previous result as the input, so you can chain improvements.

Closing the tool

Click the Cancel button in the footer or the X button in the top-right corner to close the panel. This clears all your text and results.
